echoes in the woods
how deep are the woods?
I can hear an echoing…
a world apart from ours
lies concealed within it.
an avian cry resounds
trees sigh and splinter.
hunger and death sounds
thru spring and winter.
life is aplenty in the woods
under each twig and twine
each fallen piece of tree.
life thrives and dies and rots
fueling new life unseen
echoes come from the wood
trills and shrieks; life and death
listen to what it’s telling you…
take a breath.
